In the mold, the convex part is called the male mold, and the concave part is called the female mold. This is mainly because the mold is usually composed of an upper mold and a lower mold, and its installation method will be different. For example, the upper mold of some molds may be designed as a convex mold, so it is named a convex mold; on the contrary, if the lower mold is designed as a concave mold, it is called a concave mold. At the same time, there are 1 kinds of mold design, in which the upper mold is a concave mold and the lower mold is a convex mold. In the mold, the male mold usually exists as a rear mold, the rear mold is equipped with a thimble, and the female mold appears as a front mold. The front mold of the mold, also called the mother mold or the fixed mold, is the part close to the nozzle of the injection molding machine. The rear mold, that is, the male mold or the movable mold, is a movable part installed on the injection molding machine, opposite to the mother mold. To distinguish between the male mold and the female mold, the key is whether there is a top pinhole or glue injection port: the female mold with the glue injection port (when using the push plate), and the male mold with the top pinhole. At the same time, to be clear which is the convex mold and which is the concave mold, we must find out from which angle to define the bump. Punch and die play a vital role in the mold. The female mold, usually used as a mold base, is filled under the product to be molded, and its function is to fix the product and prevent it from moving during processing. The punch is connected with the moving punch and other parts, which not only reduces the weight of the moving parts, but also ensures that the direction of the hitting force is consistent with the center of the die. Of course, there are some die design, the punch is located below, the die is located above. PUNCHES and dies are the core COMPONENTS of stamping, and they are carefully processed into the required shape. On the punching machine, the plate to be processed is punched by the punch, enters the hole of the female die, or leaks out through the leak hole, or is pushed out of the female die, thereby completing the processing of a part. The role of the punch and die can be summarized as follows: the die is the forming part of the hole, while the punch is responsible for the stamping of the shape. For simple components, such as gaskets, holes and contours can be formed simultaneously by one punch. Of course, this requires the corresponding punch and the opposite die to match, the punch is responsible for stamping, and the die is responsible for the shape. After this explanation, we should be able to more clearly understand the role of convex and concave mold. In mold design and production, we often face the challenge of small hole punching. As long as the punch is strong enough to withstand at least 1.5 material thickness, then we can produce stamping dies. However, if the guiding accuracy of the mold is not enough, the production process may become less smooth. I hope these introductions about punches and dies can provide you with some help, so that you can have a deeper understanding of the core components of these two dies.
